🌡️ Expert Lecture: Climate Change & El Niño Impacts
PROF. ATUL PATIL, SCIENTIST (AGRONOMY), KVK PAL

Prof. Atul Patil delivered an informative lecture on the impacts of climate change and the El Niño phenomenon on agriculture. He explained that El Niño is a climatic event associated with the abnormal warming of surface waters in the Pacific Ocean, which can significantly influence rainfall patterns, temperature, and weather conditions across various regions, including India.

Prof. Patil highlighted the possible effects of El Niño on kharif crops, such as delayed onset of monsoon, irregular rainfall distribution, prolonged dry spells, and increased temperature stress.

🌾 Climate-Resilient Practices Advised
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FARMERS
  • Timely sowing to avoid monsoon irregularities
  • Selection of suitable crop varieties tolerant to drought and heat stress
  • Efficient water management and soil moisture conservation techniques
  • Balanced nutrient management to minimize adverse weather impacts
