Overview
The Plant Protection Department at KVK Pal conducts On-Farm Testing (OFT) and Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) to evaluate and demonstrate effective pest and disease management strategies for major crops in the region.
On-Farm Testing (OFT) Technologies
Evaluation of university-recommended management practices for controlling Erwinia rot (rhizome rot) disease in banana, including cultural, biological and chemical control measures.
Evaluation of integrated management strategies for controlling thrips (Thrips tabaci) in onion crop, including chemical, biological and cultural control methods.
Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) Technologies
Demonstration of holistic IPM approach for cotton pest management including monitoring, economic threshold level (ETL) based interventions, biological control agents, need-based chemical control, and cultural practices.
Demonstration of IPM practices for Bengal Gram focusing on pod borer (Helicoverpa armigera) management, wilt disease control, and other pest problems using eco-friendly approaches.
Demonstration of IPM strategies for brinjal (eggplant) focusing on major pests including shoot and fruit borer (Leucinodes orbonalis), aphids, jassids, and mite management using integrated approaches.
