Balanced Fertilizer Use | Cotton Production Technology | Broad Bed & Furrow Method
A Pre-Kharif Farmers' Training Programme was successfully organized at Karjod village in Taluka Raver through the joint initiative of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Pal and the Agriculture Department, Raver. The programme aimed to equip farmers with scientific knowledge and improved technologies for the upcoming kharif season.
Prof. Atul Patil guided farmers on balanced fertilizer use and cotton production technology. He explained the importance of applying fertilizers in the right quantity and proportion based on soil fertility and crop requirements. He also discussed improved cotton cultivation practices, including:
These practices aim to enhance productivity and profitability for cotton growers in the region.
Engg. Saurabhkumar Gadakh delivered an informative lecture on the Broad Bed and Furrow (BBF) planting method. He highlighted how this technology improves drainage, reduces waterlogging, enhances root growth, and increases water-use efficiency, making it especially suitable for kharif crops in heavy rainfall conditions.
Key benefits of BBF method: Better aeration, reduced soil erosion, efficient water management, and improved crop stand even during excess rainfall events.
The programme was attended by Mr. Shrikant Vadghane, Assistant Agriculture Officer, along with a large number of farmers from the region. Farmers actively participated in the discussions and interacted with the experts regarding practical field problems and crop management strategies for the upcoming season.
“Adoption of scientific farming practices and climate-resilient technologies will help farmers improve crop yields, reduce input costs, and achieve sustainable agricultural development.”
