On-Farm Testing (OFT) and Frontline Demonstrations (FLD) are key extension activities used to transfer agricultural technologies from research institutions to farmers’ fields. OFT involves testing and refining new technologies under local conditions to ensure their suitability and effectiveness. FLD focuses on demonstrating proven technologies on farmers’ fields to showcase their production potential and benefits. Together, these approaches help improve farmer awareness, increase adoption of scientific practices, and enhance crop productivity and income.
Banana Production Technologies | OFT & FLD Demonstrations
The Horticulture Department at KVK Pal conducts On-Farm Testing (OFT) and Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) to evaluate and demonstrate improved banana production technologies under real farming conditions. These technologies focus on fertigation management, foliar nutrient application, and bunch quality improvement.
Evaluation of fertigation scheduling and nutrient management practices for optimizing banana yield and quality under drip irrigation system.
Assessment of foliar spray of acetyl salicylic acid (0.1 mM) for inducing biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, improving growth, yield, and post-harvest shelf life of banana.
Demonstration of foliar spray of Arka Banana Special (micronutrient formulation) for correcting nutrient deficiencies, improving bunch weight, and enhancing fruit quality.
Demonstration of 2% Sulphate of Potash (SOP) spray on developing banana bunches for improving finger filling, bunch weight, fruit sweetness, and shelf life.
These technologies aim to enhance banana productivity, improve fruit quality, and increase farmer income through scientific interventions.
